Big House Not Big Favorite For Photographers
Penn State played Michigan at the Big House in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Saturday, Oct. 24th under gray, rainy skies. As a photographer on the sidelines, I found the experience to be less than rewarding. I have never seen so many non-working people on the sidelines along with stadium security, sheriff's deputies, and event staff at one venue. Many of them stood in front of the photographers during plays or stepped out in front of them when a play was occurring, thereby blocking the photographers' ability to capture the action for their respective news organizations. Coupled with the loss of my camera equipment by the airlines, the second time in three weeks, it wasn't the best weekend I've had in a while. Let's hope it's better at Northwestern this weekend.

Downed Limbs and No Power

The earliest-ever snowstorm in State College history downed tree limbs and knocked out power to much of State College Thursday night. Our own house has been without power since about 10 p.m. Thursday night, and as of 10:30 a.m. Friday, and we are still without power. I woke up at 0400 to the sound of limbs crashing all around the house and began sawing them in order to move them off my driveway and grounds. To think I could be in the Keys watching this on CNN.
