Sandbagged

A lone American flag sticks out from a wall of sandbags at a forward operating base in Iraq last week. I spent a week in Kuwait and Iraq last week visiting thousands of U.S. military personnel.

MRAP

I spent a week in Kuwait and Iraq, and we visited thousands of U.S. military personnel throughout Iraq. The MRAP, shown here, is widely used by U.S. forces when patrolling because of its increased protection from IEDs. This image gives you some sense of the size of the vehicle. (Photo by LtCol. Joesph Vitale, U.S. Air Force)
