No Launch Today

What a disappointment. We left at 0800 to avoid the 250,000 people estimated to be here to watch the shuttle launch, only to have the mission scrubbed. But as you will see by the photo, I was ready to launch into space. We weren't quite as lucky on the return trip to Orlando. Traffic was bumper-to-bumper in spots. It was still coming into Cocoa Beach when we left, since they hadn't yet heard about the scrub. We're not going back tomorrow, although they haven't announced the next launch attempt yet. So, since there was no launch we walked the beach (see photo).

Approaching Liftoff

Yesterday was a great day here in Florida. We spent the entire day at the Kennedy Space Center and was able to get within a half mile of the Shuttle Discovery as it was being fueled. That was a half mile closer than the media were permitted. It was cool as you will see when I'm able to upload some photos. Launch is scheduled for today at 3:51 p.m., and we're about to head on up to Cocoa Beach to watch it. The headlight on our very stylish Chrysler Sebring burned out, so Avis gave us a new PT Cruiser.
