I never leave home without a ladder of some sort. Being 5'6" sometimes makes it difficult to see my subject. In this case, it was a halftime presentation for Coaches Versus Cancer at the Bryce Jordan Center, and the ladder was provided by the Jordan Center. The photographer was Maxwell Kruger, who I didn't know was shooting.

Depth of Field Photo of the Week


Kelly McNulty, a student in my Introduction to Photojournalism class, has this assignment's top submission for the Depth of Field assignment. The goal is for each student to demonstrate the use of shallow depth of field in a photograph. They do so by creating shallow or soft focus in the background in order to create separation between the background and the subject.
